We backpacked 3,000 miles through Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington on a Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike. Our vision is to put together the writings and watercolor paintings from our six months traveling northbound on a continuous footpath to Canada.
The book is a journal written from the perspective of Suzie, "Bossbae" There are over 100 paintings, hand painted on trail by Robert, "Birdcall"
Our vision is to travel the world creating art and documenting our journey.
Robert leads the way, he follows boot tracks still frozen like holes in the snow. I have learned a technique with micro spikes, to remain flat footed and keep as much contact on the snow. We climb straight upwards. I am breathing heavily perhaps some of it from fear. Once we descend the mountainside we hike across a craggy cliff face that looks down upon a snow covered lake. There are steps here and soon the snow is replaced by wet dirt.
The three of us, Roadrunner, Robert and I sit at a picnic table in the middle of the woods. There is a trail sign and a privy, but other than that it feels like the middle of nowhere. The woman greets us first with hand sanitizer before placing a paper cup full of sweet tea in our hands.
